“Butterflies and Moths”
While sitting on your porch swing on a lovely summer
evening, an elegant creature flutters near the glow being
emitted from the light above the mailbox. The delicate
dancing being rests a moment on the lawn chair
and you deduce that only a butterfly could be so beautiful.
You soon notice that this insect has landed with
its wings open instead of closed. You also wonder
why this butterfly has not settled in for the evening and
you realize that this is no butterfly but the most beautiful
moth you have ever seen! Your previous beliefs of
moths being drab and dull have been dispelled! Butterflies
and moths are full of fascinating surprises and
every child should have the opportunity to chase these
dancing insects through a meadow and examine their
life cycles. So don’t let your homeschooler miss this
chance to explore the world of butterflies and moths
this month during Homeschool Nature Club. The cost
for this program is only $2.50 for members and $5.00
for non-members. Registration and payment are due
by Monday, September 13 and spots are filling fast.
