Autumn Equinox Event featuring the art of JC Wheaton
J.C. Wheaton has been drawing and painting for roughly 13 years now. Working mostly in acrylics, colored pencils, and fabric markers, his work is usually comprised of creatures of the natural world, surrounded by atmospheric design work. Most, or all, of his work also combines elements and iconography that pay tribute to his Northern California Native American heritage (Concow/Nomlaki), using patterns found in traditional basket weaving.
Adopted at birth, J.C. was finally able to locate and connect with his birth family in 2013, as well as register his children and himself as members at Round Valley Reservation, Covelo, CA. Owner of Centerville Landscape and Irrigation, it is also appropriate that some of the subject matter in various pieces, are insects, many of which are known as problematic in the industry, including the Spotted Lanternfly and Emerald Ash Borer, but possess many beautiful characteristics. J.C. lives in the Waynesville, OH area, with his wife Nicole, and five children, Ezra, Max, Maya, Javen, and Lily, as well as a sneaky cat, Charlotte, singing golden retriever, Kip and disheveled coonhound, Cooper.
J.C.’s art will be on sale through Sunday, December 17 and will be ready for pick-up at the end of the show. Proceeds from our seasonal art gallery support the awe-inspiring Wildlife Ambassador program at BNC.
